Eight years have passed since 43 students from a teacher college went missing in Mexico.

The federal prosecutors in the country announced 80 arrest warrants for people involved in the disappearances.

In 2014, the disappearance of the Ayotzinapa students sparked international outrage in Mexico and protests.

More than 80 people were arrested in connection with the case, including 20 army soldiers and officers, five local officials, 

 33 local police officers and 11 state police officers as well as 14 gang members.

Arrest warrants were issued for Murillo Karam a day after a commission investigating the disappearance of the student group said that the army bore at least partial responsibility in the case.
